Information Technology Project Manager

We are currently hiring an Information Technology Project Manager either on contract or contract-to-hire to join our team in Allen, Texas.

As an IT Project Manager, will need to have a strong understanding of Agile as well as hybrid project management methodology.  You’ll need to be proficient at developing project plans, estimating project schedule and costs, directly managing teams and leading matrixed resources to deliver the solutions and services on schedule and within the specified budgets and constraints.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages planning and execution for Agile projects using Scrum and Kanban processes.
  • Facilitates Agile ceremonies including stand ups, sprint planning, and others as needed.
  • Manages the definition and refinement of user stories and tasks and, on an ongoing basis, evaluates various courses of action and selects the most effective alternative to attain team goals via coaching the team and asking the right questions.
  • Engage Product Owners and Program Managers to ensure the backlog is maintained.
    Manage agile backlog, sprint and scrum work related to enhancement and support of our existing data platform.
  • Build roadmap in co-ordination with project owners and team leads.
  • Identify and manage dependencies for both internal and external teams.
  • If assigned to larger projects/programs, must be able to:
  • Manage project(s) and project resources throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Follows proper Change Management Processes.
  • Responsible for the following: development of project milestones, project schedules, tracking project costs, tracking the design, development, and testing progress of the project, documenting, and tracking issues and risks, communication of project status to management.
  • Provides regular and timely Project status updates to project team and management as needed to ensure Projects are meeting agreed upon timeline.
  • Manage risk and develop mitigation plan through input from teams.
  • Ensures projects are on schedule and deadlines are meant.
  • Manages project budget and forecast.
  • Directs and oversees project team and manages conflicts within group.
  • Efficiently identifies, escalates, and solves project issues.
  • Demonstrates leadership.

Requirements

Must be W2 employee of TechStar Group and this position will require the person to work a hybrid model of working both remote and onsite when needed.  Local candidates preferred.

Educational Background / Professional Knowledge and Experience / Other Skills Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Agile or Scrum certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, SAFe, etc.) from accredited institution.

Requirements

  • 3 + years of current related IT project management experience in managing multiple parallel work streams.
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence technologies and projects.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ETL and data warehouse/data mart development teams.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, including backlog aging and tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and capacity planning.
  • Experience leading and administering Agile projects using Agile tool such as Jira, or similar project management system (e.g., VersionOne, Teamwork, Confluence, etc.).
  • Strong background in project management and process improvement.
  • Familiar with System Development Life Cycle, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Conflict resolution and able to quickly work through blockers.
  • Candidate must excel in communication/presentation skills, both oral and written, and tailor communication to various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Must be able to work and prioritize in a fast- paced changing environment while coordinating multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise project documentation.
  • Additional project management, Agile, or Lean Six Sigma certifications from accredited institution (e.g., PMI or ASQ) preferred.
  • Understanding of basic data warehousing principals and concepts, and technical knowledge related to Data Management, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or IT strongly preferred.
  • Work experience in the Telecommunications industry strong preferred.
